The currency used in Mainland China is officially known as the Renminbi (RMB) also known as Chinese Yuan (CNY), or just Yuan (¥) and colloquially as Kuai (块).

 

Chinese currency comes in notes of the following denominations – ¥1, ¥5, ¥10, ¥20, ¥50, ¥100.

 

¥1 is further broken down into ‘Jiao / 角’, 10 角 = 1Yuan . These notes are much smaller in size and usually only come in 1 jiao or 5 jiao denominations.

Currency of ¥1 or less either comes in note form or as coins.
