17th Sanya Nanshan Longevity Cultural Festival kicks off
The 17th annual Sanya Nanshan Longevity Cultural Festival kicked off at the Nanshan Cultural Tourism Zone on October 9th, the “Double Ninth Day” of 2016.
Alongside the opening ceremony, a number of events were held, including the Nanshan Longevity Cultural Week, the Award Ceremony for Hainan Province’s Top Ten Elders and the “God of Longevity” among Hainan Province’s Top Ten Elders, the Nanshan Longevity Feast, a seminar on senior citizen culture, and a photo exhibition of centenarians.
On that day, senior visitors were invited to the Nanshan Cultural Tourism Zone to attend a blessing ceremony for a happy and long life.
As a tropical coastal tourism destination in China, Sanya is blessed with an extremely pleasant climate and a good ecological environment.
The Nanshan Longevity Cultural Festival has been held every year on the ninth day of the ninth month of the lunar calendar since 1999. The day is a time for praying to the god of longevity and celebrating those who have lived to a ripe old age.
During the festival, visitors over 60 years old can enjoy free tickets (including admission fees and a veggie buffet) to the festival by presenting their valid ID cards between October 9th and 15th.
