Sanya Haitang District to host rural tourism & culture festival

A 2-day rural tourism and culture festival is going to be held from January 20th to 21st, 2018 at Beishan Village in Haitang District, Sanya. The festival’s purpose is to promote the culture & food of the Li People as well as the Hainan rural tourism.

How to get there: Take the Bus Route 23 and get off at the Linwang Zhen (林旺镇) stop. Beishan Village is a walking distance from Linwang Zhen.


To help more people to get to know the Li People’s unique culture, this festival will feature a series of themed events, namely, the Li Pottery Learning Courses, DIY Li Brocade, Li Special Food Street, Traditional Li Minority Sports Games and Bonfire Evening Gala.


Li Pottery Learning Courses



9:00 a.m. -12:00 p.m.
3:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Li pottery is an intangible cultural heritage of Sanya. Li Pottery is a real part of the Li people’s daily lives, and a feature of their unique ceremonial items prepared for festivals or to mark important events in their lives.


DIY Li Brocade


9:00 a.m. -12:00 p.m.
3:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
As one of Hainan Island’s most notable traditional handicrafts, traditional Li textile techniques are included on the list of national intangible cultural heritage protection items.


The Li textile techniques are a form of traditional craftsmanship used to make clothes and other daily necessities. The textile techniques are sometimes referred to as a “living fossil” of Chinese cultural heritage as they are still in use today.


Li Special Food Street


8:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
The food street will feature a variety of Li cuisines, such as Li bamboo rice, Shanlan wine, sticky rice cake and more.
