Sanya is emerging as an attractive host for the conference and exhibition industry. The city’s fine sandy beaches, sparkling water, lush tropical forests and year-round sunshine, in addition to its growing MICE capacities and first-class facilities have driven the city to become a favorite destination for award-winning business tourism.

In 2015, Sanya received 14.95 million overnight visitors, a year-on-year increase of 10.55 percent.

Sanya hosted over 11,000 meetings and conferences in 2015, including more than 48 large-scale conferences (1,000 attendees or above) covering pharmaceutical, automotive, real estate, energy, finance, e-commerce, cosmetic and other industries, making it among the top locations for meetings and conferences in China.

At present, a well-established hotel cluster has been formed in Sanya’s Haitang Bay, Yalong Bay, Dadonghai, Xiaodonghai, and Sanya Bay, such as MGM Grand Sanya, Kempinski Hotel Haitang Bay Sanya, DoubleTree by Hilton Sanya Haitang Bay, The St. Regis Sanya Yalong Bay Resort, The Ritz-Carlton Sanya Yalong Bay and Sanya Marriott Hotel Dadonghai Bay.

Each star hotel has extensive MICE facilities and resort activities, including ballrooms of various sizes for different meetings, booths for simultaneous interpretation, function rooms, mini cafes, billiard rooms, and other facilities.

The International Conference and Exhibition Center at the Mangrove Tree Resort World Sanya Bay is equipped with a 5,800-square-meter pillar-less multi-functional ballroom, with a capacity to accommodate 7,000 people. In addition, there are large-scale exhibition venues such as Haitang Bay Square, Sanya Sports Center, and Sanya Beauty Crown Cultural Exhibition Center.

The government is striving to position Sanya as a key venue in China for the convention, exhibition, and incentive travel industry (MICE).
