The events were officially confirmed by the FINA Executive Director Cornel Marculescu during his meeting with Mr. Shen Xiaoming, Governor of Hainan Province, on June 23rd, 2017.
FINA has organized the World Aquatics Gala annually since 2014. The event aims to recognize the continuous efforts and achievements of the aquatic stars across FINA’s six disciplines. Awards are given to the best athletes of 2017 (men and women) in each discipline: swimming, water polo, diving, synchronized swimming, open water swimming, and high diving. Nearly 1,000 attendees are expected to take part in the 2017 ceremony.
The FINA/HOSA 10-km Marathon Swimming World Cup 2017 is an annually staged elite-level competition organized around eleven meets. The event takes place in some of the world’s most amazing natural water bodies, including lakes, rowing courses, rivers, and the ocean.
The “Fédération Internationale de Natation Association” (FINA) was founded in London on July 19, 1908, during the Olympic Games in London. Eight national federations were responsible for the formation of FINA: Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Great Britain, Hungary, and Sweden.
