47th Youth Sailing World Championships, schedules for Dec 9-15
47th Youth Sailing World Championships is to kick off in Sanya on December 10th, 2017.
More than 490 young sailors from over 60 countries and regions have registered to compete on the eastern waters off Sanya Bay in the 5-day event, which is widely recognized as the premier event in youth sailing.
This year’s race features nine classes including 29er Men, 29er Women, 420 Men, 420 Women, Laser Radial Men, Laser Radial Women, Nacra 15, RS: X Men and RS: X Women.

Sanya, the emerging sailing destination on world map
It is the first time that the Youth Sailing World Championships is to be held in China. Known for its tropical climate, with an average year round temperature of 25 degrees, Sanya hosted stopovers on the 2011-12 and 2014-15 events for the Volvo Ocean Race. In addition, Sanya has welcomed international sailing teams for the annual Round Hainan Regatta, and the city hosted World Sailing’s 2015 Annual Conference. On February 15th, 2017, it was announced that Sanya would serve as the host port and team partner for the next two editions of the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race, through to 2020.
Currently, there are 4 yacht marinas in operation in the city, among which are the three international-class venues suited to large events offering world-class facilities including Sanya Serenity Marina, Yalong Bay Yacht Marina and Sanya Visun Royal International Yacht Marina.
