Sanya is a tropical resort city which boasts the best of both worlds when it comes to shopping, with the finest luxury international offerings available alongside fascinating and beautiful local crafts and arts. There are innumerable fantastic souvenirs waiting to be found, with pearl jewelries, sea shell ornaments, coconut-shell knick-knacks and other handicrafts with a similarly Hainanese twist amongst the most popular.

Sanya is quickly establishing itself as the region’s most exciting shopping destination. Luxury brands are increasingly visible on the tree-lined boulevards and at the beachfront restaurants of the city. World-famous luxury brands such as Louis Vuitton, Todd’s and Coach are available in Sanya either at boutique shopping malls within the city’s luxury resorts or at its duty free stores.

Sanya has also become the capital of duty free shopping in China, thanks to the fact that the only duty free stores operating in mainland China are in Sanya and Haikou Meilan Airport. The Hainan offshore duty-free policy applies to domestic and foreign visitors including residents of Hainan province, who are at least 16 years old or above, and boarding flights, trains, or ships to leave Hainan Island.
