2020 Sanya Rural Tourism Fruit Picking Festival in Damao Village
The 2020 Sanya Rural Tourism Fruit Picking Festival was held at the Sanya Sino-Nature Garden on March 15th, 2020, with various events staged to showcase the festival’s abundant cultural and tourism resources.
The festival was hosted by the Sanya Agricultural and Rural Bureau and the Sanya Tourism, Culture, Radio, Television and Sports Bureau; organized by the Sanya Federation of Tourism Associations; and co-organized by Sanya Jiyang District Government and the Damao Sino-Nature Garden.
A grand opening ceremony was held at the Sino-Nature Garden in Damao Village in Jiyang District. Guests attending the ceremony included Zhou Yanhua, Vice Mayor of the Sanya Municipal People’s Government; Chen Xiao, Deputy Secretary of the Sanya Municipal People’s Government; Huang Xingwu, Director of the Sanya Agricultural and Rural Bureau; Meng Xuyan, member of the Communist Party Group of the Sanya Tourism, Culture, Radio, Television and Sports Bureau; Chen Lian, Deputy Head of Jiyang District Government; and Hou Min, General Manager of the Sino-Ocean Group Hainan Branch.
The Sanya Sino-Nature Garden is located in Damao Village, Jiyang District. On the day of the event, the organizing committee opened a special bus route for the rural tourism festival, and arranged buses to pick up residents and tourists.
Visitors to Damao Village enjoyed the day out with family members and friends, with activities including fruit picking. Many leisure activities were organized, including visiting ecological halls and enjoy kite-flying in the village.
A special rural products bazaar aimed at boosting local poverty alleviation was set up at the festival, with farmers from Damao Village selling organic fruit, vegetables, and eggs.
In recent years, Sanya has promoted coordinated development between cities and towns. Currently, Sanya has 17 star-rated rural villages in Hainan, including Zhongliao Village and Qingtang Village, some national leisure agricultural demonstration sites such as Yalong Bay International Rose Valley and Sanya Binglang River Cultural Tourism area, and “shared farms” such as Sino-nature Garden and Haitang Bay Rice Paddy Park.
How to get there: Take Bus Route 20 and get off at Xialing Village/下岭村 Stop, then keep walking about 1.5 kilometers to the Da Mao Shan Zhuang/大茅山庄, or 30 minutes by taxi from downtown.
