Rosewood Sanya launches Laksa Cooking Class presented by Malaysian Chef Rayliew

Rosewood Sanya launches a laksa cooking class every Wednesday and Sunday from 4:30 p.m., 14 May to 30 June 2018 at East Kitchen, for participants to learn the secrets of preparing this iconic Malaysian dish under the direction of the restaurant’s native Malaysian Chinese chef de cuisine, Ray Liew. Following the class, students will savor an authentic Southeast Asian dinner against a backdrop of stunning South China Sea views, with a menu specially designed by Chef Ray.

Laksa is one of Malaysia’s most beloved dishes, made from a coconut curry broth topped with tofu puffs, beansprouts, fish cakes, shrimp and egg. Chef Ray will explain how laksa become so popular, show how to use the best and freshest ingredients, share his tips, and guide proper preparation and presentation techniques to create an authentic Malaysian-style laksa. Guests will receive a recipe tip booklet to take home prepared by Chef Ray and a class certificate with his signature. The post-class four-course dinner will include a free flow of home-made passionfruit soft drinks.

 

Chef Ray is uniquely qualified to lead the class. In addition to his expertise in Malaysian cuisine, his skills are gained from a 14-year career cooking in luxury hotels from Malaysia, Singapore, Macau and Dubai to India. “My passion for Asian food keeps me motivated in the kitchen,” says Chef Ray. “Do it with love from your heart and pass it on through your hand to the plate is my cooking philosophy. I want to show my students how this approach will create one of the best laksas they have ever tasted, that they can recreate at home as well.”
