The Hainan tourism delegation signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) regarding tourism marketing strategy with the famous British travel operator Thomas Cook Group. The memo establishes a strategic partnership between the two parties, and states that Thomas Cook will set up a branch office in Sanya. The Thomas Cook/Sanya Branch Office will be the first well-known overseas travel operator based in Hainan, and comes after the central government unveiled its plan to develop Hainan island into an international free trade zone (port).
