Emergency airlift service now made viable in Sanya
A milestone was reached for medical services in Sanya when the People’s Hospital of Sanya announced that it has partnered with Shanghai Kingwing General Aviation Co., Ltd. to offer emergency airlift services to the local community.
The aircraft that will serve as the helicopter air ambulance is an AgustaWestland AW139. The aircraft is packed with essential medical equipment, such as defibrillators, monitors, stretchers, ventilators, infusion pumps, and sputum aspirators, and will function as a flying Intensive Care Unit (ICU), providing life-saving services to passengers en route to the hospital.
The People’s Hospital of Sanya is the second hospital in Hainan to introduce the air ambulance service for critical patients. The helicopter can cruise at up to 250 kilometers per hour, meaning that it will take less than 40 minutes to get critically ill patients from Sanya to Haikou.
The hospital has constructed a helipad in its parking lot for landing and takeoff.
