Miss World delegation visits Sanya for 2018 pageant preparation

Led by Mrs. Julia Morle, President of the Miss World Organization, a delegation from the Miss World Organization arrived in Sanya on October 9th, 2018 for a two-day visit to inspect the city’s venues and facilities. Sanya is slated to serve as host city for the 68th Miss World Finals.


Dai Yuming, Vice Mayor of the Sanya Municipal People’s Government, met with the Miss World delegation at the Luhuitou State Guesthouse and Resort on the day they arrived in the city.


At the meeting, Mr. Dai gave an introduction to the preparatory work that the Sanya government has carried out for the 2018 Miss World Final. He also spoke about the 2018 Miss World Final’s philosophy and vision, its positive effect on the regional “beauty economy,” and its role in boosting Sanya as an international tourism consumption center across the nation.


Mr. Dai said the Miss World contest has deep ties to Sanya. Sanya has worked with the Miss World Organization since 2003, and has formed a strong partnership with the organization. The pageant has been hosted in Sanya for seven times. The Miss World documentary broadcasted around the world has let more people around the world to know about Sanya and has helped promote Sanya to the world. He said that through the hosting of this year’s beauty pageant, Sanya is willing to share the development opportunities with the rest of the world during the process of building Hainan into China’s free trade pilot zone (port).


The 68th Miss World Finals event is scheduled to take place on December 8th, 2018, in Sanya. This will be the eighth time that Sanya has hosted the contest (Sanya hosted the Miss World Finals in 2003, 2004, 2005, 2007, 2010, 2015, and 2017). The contestants will arrive in Sanya on November 9th, 2018 for the monthlong Miss World Festival. The contestants will hold rehearsals and attend local events such as the Hainan Carnival before the finals.
