19.4 million passengers went through Sanya Airport in 2017
The Sanya Phoenix International Airport recorded more than 19 million passengers passing through its terminals in 2017, according to statistics released on December 31st, 2017.
A total of 19,389,936 passengers used the Sanya Airport as a point of departure and arrival in 2017. Passenger throughput at the airport’s international terminal this year reached 846,943, a record high for the airport.
The figures released reveal consistent growth in passenger traffic, demonstrating that the Sanya Airport continues to expand as a major hub in Asia and today processes more passengers than ever before.
Contributing to the significant rise in traffic have been increased international flight service options, ever-improving supporting facilities at the airport, and upgraded management.
In 2017, the airport made strides in the expansion of its international flight routes. This September, the Sanya Airport and HNA Airport Group jointly attended the 23rd World Route Development Forum 2017. At the forum, the Sanya Airport signed a joint letter of intent with Siberia Airlines to further expand the international air route network between the two regions. The Sanya Airport also signed a letter of intent (LOI) with Sheremetyevo International Airport agreeing to establish a “sister airport” relationship.
