Sanya launches global social media project, aids tourism reach
The launch ceremony for the 2018-19 Sanya Overseas Social Media Project was held at Atlantis Sanya on June 28th, 2018. The event was hosted by the Sanya Tourism Development Commission and organized by Beijing Yiqilian Technology Co., Ltd.
Tang Sixian, Consulting Director of the Sanya Tourism Development Commission made a speech at the ceremony.
Officials in attendance at the ceremony included the following: Tang Sixian, Consulting Director of the Sanya Tourism Development Commission; Pang Yongda, Director of the Marketing Department at the Sanya Tourism Development Commission; Deng Chen, CEO of Beijing Yiqilian Technology Co., Ltd.; and representatives from Google.com and LinkedIn.
The event highlighted the key role of overseas brand marketing in the promotion of Sanya tourism on the international stage. Tourism enterprises in Sanya will be encouraged to use social media to further expand the influence of Sanya tourism and its cultural brand in overseas markets, so as to promote the overall development of the Sanya tourism industry.

A strategic cooperation agreement was reached between the Sanya Tourism Development Commission and Beijing Yiqilian Technology Co., Ltd., at the ceremony. The agreement stated that during the period of the project (2018 to 2019), Sanya will continue to integrate new media resources into its platforms to fully promote the Sanya tourism brand globally; secondly, more tourism promotional advertisements will be placed on overseas social media platforms; thirdly, the city will work to attract more followers on overseas social media platforms through online and offline marketing campaigns and intensive media coverage; finally, Sanya will make an effort to increase exposure of Sanya tourism and products on business and professional networking platforms such as LinkedIn.
In a keynote speech at the ceremony, Mr. Tang said that Sanya has made remarkable progress in overseas tourism over the past two years. The city received 692,800 overseas tourist arrivals in 2017, a year-on-year increase of 54.35 percent. In 2016, Sanya opened official tourism accounts on six major overseas social networking and travel review platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Youtube, Pinterest, and TripAdvisor.
