Sanya markets see bumper catches again after seasonal ban lifted

Updated: 2020-08-19 15:59:42

The fish are jumping after a three-and-a-half-month summer fishing ban in the South China Sea gave them the time and environment to reproduce.

In Sanya, hundreds of locally-registered fishing boats started joint oceangoing fishing operations on the South China Sea on August 16th, 2020 after a rest of three and a half months.

A harvest of tons of fish including mackerel, red coat, tilefish, and catfish, just to name a few, arrived this morning from fishing vessels at Yazhou Central Fishing Port to wet markets across the city.

Besides, a rural products bazaar and seafood cultural week to boost local poverty alleviation will be held at Sanya Huo Che Tou Seafood Market from August 21st to August 30th, 2020.

Popular specialties will not only include a wide variety of fresh seafood supplied directly by local fishermen, but rural products such as tropical fruit, organic vegetables, Shanlan wine, local honey, as well as other agricultural products brought by the farmers from poverty-stricken areas around Sanya will be offered at the best prices for residents and tourists.
