Sanya to promote use of 1,000 new-energy vehicles this year
More than 1,000 new-energy vehicles are expected to hit the road in Sanya by the end of this year, according to the Sanya Industry and Informatization Bureau.
The public transportation sector has taken the lead in promoting new-energy vehicles in Sanya. In the period from 2016 to 2018, new-energy buses accounted for 80 percent of newly purchased vehicles by public transport organizations.
From 2016 till the first half of this year, the city introduced 3,539 new-energy vehicles used as buses, government vehicles, cabs, and private cars. About 1,000 charging piles (single charging stations) are in service now.
As one of the main supporting facilities for new-energy vehicle promotion, about 900 charging piles will be added in the coming two months. These charging piles will be established in public places such as residential complexes, scenic spots, parking lots, shopping malls, railway stations, the airport, and parks over the coming two months.
The Sanya government plans in the future to release more incentives aimed at promoting the use of new-energy vehicles, including offering parking discounts, green-car subsidies, and more charging facilities.
