Sanya's 1st Holistic Tourism English Corner established

Sanya’s first Holistic Tourism English Corner was established at Young Bar, Dadonghai on September 10th, 2017. The launch ceremony featured attendance by Mr. Ye Kaizhong, Vice Director of the Sanya Tourism Development Commission; Ms. Liu Xiaoli, Director of the Sanya Bureau of Civil Servants; Ms. Yu Miao, Chinese Principal of the Sanya Foreign Language School; Mr. Brian Back, Foreign Principal of the Sanya Foreign Language School; and representatives of the holistic tourism authorities together with 50 English fans.

 

The initiative is to improve the English level in Sanya is part of the city’s effort to develop into an international seaside boutique tourist resort and a demonstration area for holistic tourism.

 

The English Corner at Young Bar meets every Saturday and Sunday. It’s open to the public for free.

 

Mr. Ye Kaizhong, Vice Director of the Sanya Tourism Development Commission said, as Sanya is working to build itself into a world-class coastal tourist city, it obviously can be seen that the Holistic Tourism English Corners will bring positive impact to the healthy development of Sanya’s tourism and give strong support to the extension work of Sanya’s holistic tourism.

 

It’s learnt that there are 10 Holistic Tourism English Corners planned across the city. The other 9 English corners will be located at Haicheng Bookstore (Xinfeng Street Branch), Zhongliao Village, Linwang Tourism Area, Wuzhizhou Island, Fengxinglong Park, Tianya Haijiao Scenic Spot, Haitang Bay International Duty-free Shopping Complex, Resort Intime Sanya and Nanshan Cultural Tourism Zone.

 

Apart from the Holistic Tourism English Corners, the Sanya government also launched Practical English Training Classes to train workers within Sanya’s Party, government, enterprises, and institutions with an aim to improve their English level to better service international tourists and help shape the reputation of a “Friendly Sanya” on the international stage.
