Chinese actor Huang Bo hosts underwater livestream in Sanya, call for ocean conservation
On September 25th, 2020, Chinese actor Huang Bo hosted his first underwater livestream on short-video App Kuaishou in Sanya, call on people to protect the underwater world.
Initiated by Chopsticks Action, PADI International Diving Association, Kuaishou, Micro Public Welfare and Wuzhizhou Island, the 100-minute underwater livestream attracted more than 100,000 viewers.
The campaign started with a series of underwater interactive challenge activities. Travel geek couple – Zhang Xiyu and Liang Hong and another livestream host Chang Lin also teamed with anchor Huang Bo to complete the challenges. In addition, Dr. Zhang Yuyang from the South China Sea Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Sciences also joined to popularize tropical coral reefs with his vivid illustration via livestreaming.
The campaign also featured an underwater unveiling ceremony for the Wuzhizhou island and PADI Marine Environmental Protection Volunteer Alliance Base. In the future, more divers and ocean-lovers will come together to join the marine conservation campaign to save the ocean.

As a public icon passionate about environmental conservation, Huang Bo is also a public welfare practitioner in his life. He hoped that the livestream can help the public to get a deeper understanding of the oceans, and at the same time, it will allow them to pay much attention to the marine ecological issues and attract more people to join the environmental protection.
The marine ranch in the sea around Wuzhizhou Island in Sanya, Hainan Province, is China’s first tropical sea ranching pilot site.
Wuzhizhou Island has been always taking marine protection as its priority by implementing various marine protection work standards and service procedures, reminding tourists to love and protect the ocean. In recent years, the marine ecosystem at Wuzhizhou Island has been improving thanks to a series of ecological environment restoration and protection measures.
