Sanya continues its tourism push in Chengdu for outlying towns
A delegation of Sanya tourism representatives recently arrived in Chengdu on September 19th,2017, the next stop on its “Greater Sanya Zone” tourism promotion trip. The delegation previously stopped in Kunming, Yunnan Province and Guiyang, Guizhou Province. The goal of the delegation’s tour is to enhance the awareness and heighten the reputation of Sanya, Lingshui, Baoting, and Ledong in the domestic tourism markets.
The promotional conference in Chengdu received a positive from attendees. With beautiful photos, wonderful video clips, and a passionate presentation, Mr. Tang Sixian, Consulting Director of the Sanya Tourism Development Commission (STDC) delivered a comprehensive introduction to the tourism sector in the Greater Sanya Zone. Other tourism representatives from the Greater Sanya Zone mingled with attendees, seeking to spread knowledge of the Greater Sanya Zone in an enjoyable atmosphere.
A business matchmaking meeting was held during the promotional event, with attendances from 23 tourism-related enterprises in the Greater Sanya Zone and local travel operators from Chengdu. According to intentional cooperation deals made at the meeting, some 250,000 tourist arrivals from Chengdu and other places in Sichuan Province are expected to visit the Greater Sanya Zone in the coming year.
Statistics from Sanya Airport showed that the total number of tourists visiting Sanya reached 482,000, which was the fourth of the largest domestic tourist source markets to Sanya, following Beijing, Chengqing and Shanghai. In the first six months of this year, the figure totaled 288,000, ranking the third place following Beijing and Shanghai.
The event in Guiyang was the third stop on the Greater Sanya Zone’s tourism marketing campaign in 2017. The next stop for the tourism marketing campaign will be at Hefei in Anhui province.
The tourism industry is one of the pillars of the Greater Sanya Tourism Economic Circle. In 2016, approximately 19.5 million overnight tourists were registered in Sanya, Lingshui, Ledong, and Boating, accounting for 39.3 percent of Hainan’s total. Tourism revenue in 2016 reached RMB 35.258 billion, accounting for 52.5 percent of the total in Hainan.
