Sanya makes it to top 3 nationwide in cultural & tourism promo
Sanya ranks third in the nation in terms of Chinese cities’ success in promoting their own cultural and tourism industries, according to a recent report.
The People’s Daily, one of the largest comprehensive internet media sources in China, released the Comprehensive Influence Ranking List of China’s Top-50 Cities’ Administrative Departments for Culture and Tourism for the first half of 2018. The list was released on August 20th.
Sanya has made it into the top three for its outstanding performance in cultural and tourism promotion. The top ten cities, in order, were Hangzhou, Guangzhou, Sanya, Chengdu, Suzhou, Shenzhen, Kunming, Xi’an, Qingdao, and Xiamen.
The rankings are based on three assessment indicators, namely, WeMedia influence, degree of social awareness, and social reputation.
In recent years, Sanya has focused on a handful of projects intended to improve Sanya’s tourism environment and help bring the city’s holistic tourism development to the new level.
Sanya set up China’s first dedicated tourist police force with the dual goals of enhancing visitor service satisfaction and promoting a quality tourism environment. Sanya also became the first city nationwide to carry out a “1+3” creative tourism management and law enforcement plan, integrating comprehensive tourism monitoring institutions, a tourism court, and a tourist police force.
To create a fair and better tourism environment for visitors, the local government has rolled out a series of management rules aimed at regulating the seafood market, the tropical fruit market, and one-day tour business across the city.
To further boost the development of the city’s cultural tourism industry, the local government is focused on completing several large-scale cultural projects with local features, including the Atlantis Resort, Sanya Haichang Fantasy Town, Sanya ISY Music Festival, and more, with the ultimate goal of helping Sanya City develop into a “holistic tourism resort city.”
